People visit Barbados every year from all around the world, some for vacation and some for business travel. When you get back from your Barbados trip and you need a little sip of liquid sunshine, here is a list of some of the best Bajan rums to take back with you to remember everything that’s great about Barbados.
ST. NICHOLAS ABBEY RUM 10 YEAR
This small batch Barbadian rum is a combination of column and copper pot stilled rums distilled at the Foursquare Distillery and aged at St. Nicholas Abbey in their high altitude location for a minimum of 10 years. This particular has very sweet notes and rich body.
MOUNT GAY XO CASK STRENGTH RUM
This rum was created by Mount Gay Rum's Master Blender Allen Smith to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Barbados independence. Each bottle comes with its own wooden keepsake box and booklet detailing the history of Barbados rum. Outside of Barbados they are only 3000 bottles allocated for worldwide sale.
THE REAL MCCOY 5 YEAR RUM
Though a “younger” rum, this Foursquare Rum Distillery product is deep and aromatic. A good presentation of the sugar produced among the cane fields of Saint Phillip on the south east of Barbados.
DOORLY'S 12 YEAR RUM
Doorly’s is most recognized for its iconic Macaw birds, this particular bottle of Doorly’s offers a top of the line rum with a bit of change to the usual aging process. Doorly’s 12 is finished in port and Madeira casks, creating a rounded and robust flavour that Barbados can be proud of worldwide
PLANTATION RUM BARBADOS 2001
A blend of column and pot-still rums from Barbados aged for nine years in used bourbon and sherry casks. It is then finished for an additional three years in former Cognac casks, creating a woody and fruity balance.
FOURSQUARE RUM PORT CASK FINISH
This rum is a throwback to a time in early rum production when Barbadian rum makers utilized the sherry and port barrels. This rum is aged 3 years in ex-bourbon barrels and then set for an additional 6 years in used port barrels, creating a sweet and rich flavour profile
MOUNT GAY 1703 MASTER SELECT RUM
This limited edition rum is created at the Mount Gay Distillery in Barbados by Master Blender Allen Smith. It is created using a blend of copper pot and copper column rums ranging from 10-30 years of age. It is by far the best of the best that Barbados produces and is celebrate by Connoisseurs around the world.
